This print showcases the masterpiece artwork titled "Prophets Patriarchs Saints Music Angels Glory" by Giovanni Battista Gaulli, also known as Il Baciccio. Created between 1639 and 1709, this stunning piece of art is a testament to Gaulli's exceptional talent and his significant contributions to Italian Baroque art. The composition of this artwork is truly remarkable, featuring a harmonious blend of prophets, patriarchs, saints, music angels, and divine glory. Gaulli's use of pen, brown ink, brushwork with gray washes and black chalk brings depth and texture to the drawing. The dimensions measure an impressive 16 1/4 x 20 13/16 inches (413 x 528 cm), making it a grand display of artistic mastery. Notably, this extraordinary work was designed in collaboration with Francesco Borromini, a renowned architect famous for his innovative yet tormented style. Together they created several celebrated Baroque churches in Rome including Sant'Agnese in Piazza Navona. Commissioned by Ciro Ferri to paint the cupola or dome of Sant'Agnese church in Rome around 1670; however tragically interrupted by Gaulli's untimely death in 1689. Despite its unfinished state due to unfortunate circumstances beyond the artist's control; this artwork remains an awe-inspiring representation of Gaulli's brilliance and immense talent.
