This chromolithograph, published in 1897, showcases the intricate beauty of snails from the Gastropoda family. The print features a diverse array of species, each with its own unique characteristics and charm. In the foreground, we are introduced to the Cone snail (Conus texilis), displaying its striking patterned shell that resembles an elegant work of art. Next to it is the Stagnant pond snail (Limnaeus stagnalis), gracefully gliding across still waters, leaving ripples in its wake. Moving along, we encounter the Dusky Arion (Arion fuscus or Arion empiricorum), a dark-hued slug exuding an air of mystery. Its slimy body contrasts with the vibrant green Sap-sucking slug (Elysia viridis) nearby, which appears almost ethereal as it delicately clings to foliage.
