EDITORS COMMENTS
This stunning print captures the awe-inspiring beauty of the giant desert hairy scorpion (Hadrurus arizonensis), the largest scorpion found in the South-West of North America. With its vibrant yellow body and a dark top, this species stands out among its peers. Its lobster-like pincers add to its unique appearance, making it a fascinating creature to behold. The scorpion's common name comes from the brown hairs that adorn its body, giving it a distinctively fuzzy texture. These hairs serve an important purpose as they help the scorpion detect vibrations in the soil, aiding in hunting and navigation. Inhabiting arid regions, this particular species is one of 8 to 9 Hadrurus species found in the United States. It is known for its adaptability to harsh desert conditions and has become an iconic symbol of resilience and survival. Captured by talented photographer Michael Mike L. Baird, this print showcases not only the intricate details of this magnificent creature but also highlights nature's incredible diversity.
