This coloured woodcut print depicts Mungo Park, a Scottish explorer, finding respite in a native's hut in Sego, Bambarra during his African expedition in 1796. The illustration is taken from "The Life and Travels of Mungo Park" which chronicles the remarkable journey of this intrepid adventurer across Africa. In the image, we see Park surrounded by an indigenous group dressed in traditional attire. The huts are constructed with wooden frames and woven thatched roofs, showcasing the local architectural style prevalent in Segou, Mali.
