The main Olympic site (the Olympic Park) will be in Stratford (upper left) and along the Lower Lea Valley, and lies on a line running northwards from the Millennium Dome (white, on River Thames, near centre). The area, in 2005, is mostly industrial estates and wasteland that will, by 2012, be developed into sports arenas and the Olympic Village.
