Greenland dog

Greenland dog. This breed of dog is kept as a sled dog in Arctic regions of Siberia, Alaska, Canada and Greenland. It is thought to be descended from dogs brought to Greenland by early inuit settlers. The dog in the image belongs to the Royal Danish Navys SIRIUS sledge patrol, a small army unit that patrols and defends Danish sovereignty over Greenland. SIRIUS patrol dogs have been selectively bred for endurance and strength. Over a working lifetime, the dog will pull sledges over a total distance of 25, 000 kilometres
