As part of the Riverwatch scheme, schools from the Colne Valley united to tackle pollution and study animal life in their local river. From nursery to high school, these young minds eagerly participated in this hands-on learning experience. In this particular snapshot, we see nursery teacher Mrs Pam Jones leading her enthusiastic pupils from Marsden Infants School at the pack horse bridge in the village. The date is etched into history - 1st July 1990 - marking a significant moment when these children actively contributed towards preserving their natural surroundings. The image evokes nostalgia for a time when education went beyond textbooks and classrooms, emphasizing experiential learning that fostered an appreciation for nature's wonders.
