This image transports us back to 1977, a pivotal year in the history of this iconic aircraft. At the time, G-AOSU was undergoing conversion to the Supermunk prototype at Staverton, with a powerful 180hp Lycoming engine installed. However, the conversion work was abruptly halted. The Royal Air Force Gliding and Soaring Association (RAFGSA) seized the opportunity and purchased not only this aircraft but also the essential jigs, tooling, paperwork, and conversion rights.
