This magnificent illustration, Plate 61 from the original double elephant folio edition (1827-30), was engraved, printed, and hand-colored by R. Havell (& Son) in London. The Great-horned Owl is a bird of prey native to the Americas, belonging to the Strigidae family and the order Strigiformes.
