EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a remarkable painting of Jeanne-Marie de Surigny Marie Suzanne Doucet de Surigny, also known as Jeanne-Marie de Surigny. She was born in 1751 and passed away in 1825, holding the title of marquee. The artist behind this exquisite piece is not mentioned, but it is worth noting that Jeanne-Marie was the sister-in-law to the talented creator. Dating back to circa 1790, this watercolor and gouache on ivory artwork showcases incredible attention to detail. The framed portrait stands at a height of approximately 11.6 cm (4.5 inches). A handwritten piece of paper can be seen attached at the back with intriguing information about her lineage: "Grand-Mere de Mon Pere // arrere arere Gd Mere de Bernard de Pourtales // Mme Renouard de Bussiere // nee Doucet de Surigny". Interestingly enough, this particular painting represents the same individual depicted in a grand pastel given by me from Lille at the salon du milieu - an excerpt from Mathieu's work. It bears Mr Bernard's signature along with "Signature fc e Doucet". It is important to note that this caption does not mention any commercial use or affiliation with any company; rather, it focuses solely on providing historical context for this image from Liszt Collection.
