EDITORS COMMENTS
This iconic moment captures Emmanuel Adebayor's historic first goal for Arsenal against their arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Carling Cup Semi-Final second leg at Emirates Stadium on January 31,2007. With the scoreline delicately poised at 1-1 after the first leg, the stakes were high as both teams battled it out for a place in the final. Adebayor, who had only joined Arsenal the previous summer from Monaco, seized the opportunity to make his mark on the North London Derby. In the 53rd minute, he received a pass from Cesc Fabregas, skillfully maneuvered past Tottenham's defense, and coolly slotted the ball past Paul Robinson to put Arsenal in the driver's seat. The crowd erupted in jubilation as Adebayor ran towards the Arsenal fans, celebrating his goal and soaking in the adulation. The goal not only secured Arsenal's victory in the Carling Cup Semi-Final but also marked the beginning of a successful tenure for the Togolese striker at the Emirates. This photograph, taken by Arsenal Football Club's official photographer David Price, encapsulates the intensity, passion, and excitement of a North London Derby and serves as a reminder of Adebayor's significant contribution to Arsenal's history.
