Diana, Princess of Wales today came face to face with a woman driven to killing her

Diana, Princess of Wales today came face to face with a woman driven to killing her husband by years of domestic violence.
She shook hands with Kiranjit Ahluwalia, freed last year after spending more than three years in prison, and urged her to write a book about her experiences.
The two met as Chiswick Family Rescue, the first centre for battered women in the world, relaunched today under the name Refuge.
Diana attended the event as a mark of her concern for the plight of thousands of women who live in terror at home - a concern reinforced by a private visit to a refuge hostel last year.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this powerful and poignant photo print, we witness a historic encounter between Diana, Princess of Wales, and Kiranjit Ahluwalia. The image captures the moment when these two remarkable women come face to face, representing different sides of a tragic story. Kiranjit Ahluwalia's harrowing journey is revealed as she was driven to kill her husband after enduring years of unimaginable domestic violence. After spending over three years in prison, she finally found freedom. It is at this juncture that Diana reaches out to her with compassion and empathy. As they shake hands, it symbolizes not only their connection but also Diana's unwavering commitment to raising awareness about the plight faced by countless women trapped in abusive relationships. Her presence at the relaunch of Chiswick Family Rescue - now known as Refuge - serves as a testament to her dedication towards supporting those who live in constant fear within their own homes. Diana's genuine concern for these vulnerable individuals was further reinforced during her private visit to a refuge hostel the previous year. This meeting with Kiranjit Ahluwalia becomes another chapter in Diana's ongoing mission to shed light on important social issues and give voice to those who have been silenced for far too long. Photographer Ken Lennox skillfully captures this significant moment through his lens, immortalizing an encounter that will forever be etched in history. As we reflect upon this photograph today, it serves as a reminder of both the strength exhibited by survivors like Kiranj
