The Premier Diamond Mine, which opened in 1925, was a major discovery in South Africa's diamond history. It was the first mine to use a large-scale mechanical recovery system, known as the "long hole stoping" method, which revolutionized the diamond mining industry. This innovative technique allowed for the extraction of larger quantities of diamonds from deeper levels of the mine.
