Pop singer Tracey Cattell of Coventry group The Primitives

Pop singer Tracey Cattell of Coventry group The Primitives, was besieged by youngsters when she opened an art exhibition in the city. The pop star opened the display of Coventry wildlife staged by playscheme youngsters in the city. Over the next two weeks, parents and friends can visit the Herbert Art Gallery to see what the youngsters have been up to during the summer holidays. More than 200 children, all under 10, joined in the daily sessions. They included visits to nature trails and water-side walks to study
insects, flowers, plants and animals in their city environment Hours of work has gone into making models of spiders, butterflies, foxes, rabbits and a giant ladybird. But the star attraction is a video of the groups visits to Swanswell Pool and the Whitefriars Monastery. It also includes a youngster playing David Bellamy.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Pop singer Tracey Cattell of Coventry group The Primitives was met with an overwhelming crowd of enthusiastic youngsters as she graced the opening of an art exhibition in the city. The exhibition, showcasing the wildlife of Coventry, was curated by playscheme children who had spent their summer holidays exploring nature trails and observing insects, flowers, plants, and animals in their urban environment. The Herbert Art Gallery now welcomes parents and friends to witness the incredible creations crafted by over 200 children under the age of 10. Amongst these masterpieces are meticulously made models of spiders, butterflies, foxes, rabbits, and even a colossal ladybird. However, stealing the spotlight is a captivating video capturing the group's adventures at Swanswell Pool and Whitefriars Monastery. Notably featured in this footage is a young prodigy portraying none other than David Bellamy himself. In this heartwarming photograph captured by Bob Cole from Memory Lane Prints on August 25th, 1989; we see Tracey Cattell surrounded by her adoring fans including five-year-old Toni McNamara at the grand opening ceremony for this remarkable wildlife exhibition at Herbert Art Gallery. This event not only celebrates creativity but also encourages young minds to appreciate and protect their natural surroundings.
