Where The Rainbow Ends

EDITORS COMMENTS
is a captivating and fantastical musical production by John Ramsay and Clifford Mills, first performed at the Savoy Theatre in London on December 21, 1911. This enchanting story, later revived at the Holborn Empire by Italia Conti in 1919, under the production of Charles Gulliver, tells the tale of two girls and two boys on a quest to rescue their parents. Accompanied by a pet lion cub, they embark on a magical journey through the woods, guided by the ethereal beauty of a rainbow. The scene unfolds as the children travel on a magic carpet, facing various perils and obstacles along the way. The rainbow, a symbol of hope, provides them with a carpet of faith, offering protection and guidance. The noble hero, St George of England, appears in shining armor, ready to fight and conquer the dragon of evil, as he has done in olden times. The story is predominantly set in Rainbow Land, a mystical realm filled with talking animals, mythical creatures, and a white witch. The night sky is illuminated by the gentle glow of the moon, casting a serene reflection on the tranquil lake at the end of the wood. This idyllic setting serves as a backdrop for the children's adventure, filled with wonder, magic, and the power of belief. The music for "Where The Rainbow Ends" was composed by Roger Quilter, adding an enchanting layer to the production. This 1910s fantasy story continues to captivate audiences with its timeless themes of hope, courage, and the power of the imagination.
