GLC-LFB Islington fire station, Upper Street
Islington fire station was erected in Upper Street, North London, in 1900 by the London County Council for the Metropolitan Fire Brigade. It was demolished in 1993 to make way for the new Islington fire station built on the same site. Seen here is one of the two fire engines allocated to the station, the Dennis pump ladder

This evocative photograph captures the historic Islington Fire Station on Upper Street in North London, which was established in 1900 by the London County Council for the Metropolitan Fire Brigade. The red brick building, a prominent feature of the Upper Street landscape for nearly a century, was demolished in 1993 to make way for a modern replacement. In this image, one of the two fire engines allocated to the station can be seen, a Dennis pump ladder from the 1980s.
