Neuropteridium tree fern fossil. Sandstone block (27 by 43 centimetres) containing a fossilised specimen of a Neuropteridium tree fern. This specimen dates from around 240 million years ago, during the Triassic when the climate was warmer. It was found in the Voltzia sandstone quarries of the Vosges mountain range in northern France, and is part of the Grauvogel-Gall collection, held in Strasbourg, France
