Mir space station. Photograph of the Russian Mir space station in orbit above the Pacific Ocean. This image was made using an IMAX cine camera on board Shuttle Discovery during Mission STS-63 in February 1995. Discovery made a close rendezvous with the space station in a rehersal for the first Shuttle docking with Mir on Mission STS-71 of June 1995. STS-71 is the first US-Russian manned mission since Apollo-Soyuz of 1975, and is Americas 100th manned space mission
