James Park, the Coventry fine-art dealer who left his his Corporation Street store

James Park, the Coventry fine-art dealer who left his his Corporation Street store because of the high rent, has found another city centre site at a third of the cost. Mr Parks new shop, which is almost the same size as his old premises, is a reconstructed Tudor building in Spon Street, which was officially opened by Hammer Horror film star, Veronica Carlson. " I had been in the Corporation Street premises for 15 years but I moved because of the rent there. This new place is central and is in keeping with the type of goods we do, " said Mr Park. His old store was rented from the Amalgamated Union of Engineering Workers, but, his new shop is owned by Coventry Corporation, who have reconstructed the building as part of the townscape scheme. Among exhibits on display at the opening event were some painting by Miss Carlson, a former art student, who now lives in Coventry, and who still spends much of her time painting.

EDITORS COMMENTS
