Sauropod dinosaurs

Brachiosaurus and Diplodocus dinosaurs, computer artwork. These are both sauropod dinosaurs, enormous herbivores with long necks and tails. Brachiosaurus held its neck nearly vertically, and was the tallest dinosaur, standing up to 16 metres tall. Diplodocus held its neck horizontally. It is thought that Brachiosaurus fed on the high leaves of trees, as giraffes do today, while Diplodocus fed on lower plants. These dinosaurs inhabited what is now North America in the late Jurassic period, between 155 and 145 million years ago. It is thought that sauropod dinosaurs lived in herds, although a fully-grown adult would have had little to fear from predators

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the awe-inspiring world of sauropod dinosaurs, specifically the Brachiosaurus and Diplodocus. Through intricate computer artwork, these enormous herbivores come to life with their long necks and tails. The Brachiosaurus, standing at an impressive 16 meters tall, held its neck nearly vertically, making it the tallest dinosaur known to have existed. In contrast, the Diplodocus held its neck horizontally. It is believed that these majestic creatures had distinct feeding habits. Similar to modern-day giraffes, Brachiosaurus likely fed on high leaves from trees while Diplodocus preferred lower plants. These sauropods roamed what is now North America during the late Jurassic period around 155 to 145 million years ago. The image hints at a serene evening setting as depicted by the beautiful sunset in the background. It transports us back in time to witness these magnificent beings in their natural habitat. Although they lived in herds for protection against predators, fully-grown adults like these would have had little reason to fear any threats. This stunning illustration not only showcases the incredible diversity of prehistoric life but also serves as a reminder of Earth's rich history and evolution over millions of years. With its attention to detail and scientific accuracy, this print from Science Photo Library brings paleontology enthusiasts closer than ever before to understanding and appreciating our planet's ancient inhabitants
