EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the momentous occasion at one of Wales' busiest lifeboat stations. The image showcases the station's brand new, larger, and faster boat, which has been introduced as part of a comprehensive plan to enhance the rescue service along a popular stretch of coastline. Situated in St David's within the breathtaking Pembrokeshire National Park, this lifeboat station is leading the way with its improved vessel. Interestingly, St David's is just the first of three lifeboat stations in this area that will soon benefit from upgraded vessels. Both Tenby and Angle stations, located within Milford Haven harbour, are eagerly awaiting their new lifeboats. It is worth noting that while St David's replacement has already been serving for an impressive 18 years, it continues to excel in its role. The newly arrived 48ft Ruby and Arthur Reed (depicted on the right side of the photograph) was previously stationed at Cromer in Norfolk but has now found its perfect fit in West Wales according to RNLI experts. This remarkable vessel promises to play a vital role in ensuring safety along these treacherous waters. Dated December 10th, 1985, this snapshot not only highlights advancements in transportation and emergency services during that era but also pays tribute to charitable organizations like RNLI who tirelessly work towards safeguarding lives at sea.
