Three winners of Keep Britain Tidy competitions were rewarded for the litter free ideas

Three winners of Keep Britain Tidy competitions were rewarded for the litter free ideas when they visited Huddersfield fire station. 12 year old Clair Bulmer, of Almondbury, won a competition to " name the bin" run by the group at Almondbury scouts gala day. Paul Chirgwin, 11, of Almondbury, won a slogan competition organized by the Keep Britain Tidy group at the same event. Both youngsters were presented with plaques. Another winner was Jonathan McAllister, 13, of Honley, who was presented with a football signed by Huddersfield Town football - the prize in a similar competition run run during the mayors parade. The children were given a guided tour of the fire station by firemen from white watch, along with parents and previous competition winners. Pictured are Station Officer James O Boyle with from left: Jonathan McAllister, Paul Chirgwin and Clair Bulmer. 26th July 1985

EDITORS COMMENTS
Three young champions of cleanliness and creativity were celebrated at Huddersfield fire station as they received well-deserved recognition for their litter-free ideas. The winners, 12-year-old Clair Bulmer from Almondbury, 11-year-old Paul Chirgwin also from Almondbury, and 13-year-old Jonathan McAllister from Honley, showcased their remarkable talents in separate competitions organized by Keep Britain Tidy. Clair's imaginative suggestion to 'name the bin' triumphed at the Almondbury scouts gala day competition while Paul's catchy slogan caught the attention of judges during the same event. Both youngsters proudly accepted plaques as tokens of appreciation for their outstanding contributions. Meanwhile, Jonathan's luck shone bright when he won a football signed by none other than Huddersfield Town football team in a similar contest held during the mayors parade. To commemorate their achievements, these talented children were treated to an exclusive tour of the fire station led by dedicated firefighters from white watch. In this heartwarming print captured on July 26th, 1985, Station Officer James O Boyle stands tall alongside our three exceptional winners - Jonathan McAllister, Paul Chirgwin, and Clair Bulmer.
