This engraving captures the captivating and enigmatic presence of Vaslav Nijinski, a Russian dance and choreographer who left an indelible mark on the world of dance during the early 20th century. Born in 1890 in Riga, Latvia, Nijinski was a prodigious talent who began his dance training at a young age. He quickly rose to prominence in the Imperial Ballet in St. Petersburg, where he danced leading roles in productions such as "Sleeping Beauty" and "Swan Lake." However, Nijinski's true genius was revealed when he began to experiment with modern dance techniques and innovative choreography.
