There was a Water Section for each of the three Commands, to oversee the administration and liaison with Water Companies regarding the tens of thousands of hydrants in the Brigade area

The GLC-LFB was established on 1 April 1965, and as part of the documentation of the new enlarged London Fire Brigade, a series of photos were commissioned to showcase each type of fire engine, including those from the Water Section, which were responsible for overseeing the administration and liaison with water companies regarding the tens of thousands of hydrants in the Brigade area. In this image, a Morris van from the Croydon Water Section is seen parked at Brigade HQ.
