Grenadier cap, officers, 43rd Regiment of Foot, 1740-1749. Metal and silk thread embroidery on velvet and wool. This officers cap displays the white horse and motto of the house of Hanover, the Royal family of the time. Translated, the motto reads Nor do difficulties deter. Until a Royal Warrant in 1751 forbade it, the Colonel of the Regiment could put whatever device or badge he chose on the grenadier cap. Date: 1740
