Claire Bloom made her London stage debut in 1947 when just 16 years old, and the following year made a highly acclaimed performance as Ophelia in Hamlet. Her first film role was in 1948 in The Blind Goddess. She became a star after her performance in Charlie Chaplins Limelight in 1952. Claire Bloom also appeared in a number of television films and seroes, notably as Lady Marchmain in Brideshead Revisited (1981)
