EDITORS COMMENTS
In this heartwarming photo print, we see Peter the dog, a true hero in every sense. The story behind this image is one that will leave you in awe of the incredible bond between humans and animals. Little Peggy Norton owes her life to Peter, who was owned by her father Mr H. E. Norton from River Hulme, Letheringsett, Norfolk. One fateful day in the 1930s, when Peggy was just two and a half years old, she accidentally fell into a deep stream while her father attended to his motor car nearby. As panic set in and cries for help filled the air, it was Peter who rushed to Peggy's rescue. When Mr Norton arrived at the scene upon hearing his daughter's desperate pleas for him, he found Peter on the bank of the stream gripping onto Peggy's arm with his mouth tightly shut - unable to bark due to holding onto her. This extraordinary act of bravery saved little Peggy's life and forever etched their names into history as symbols of courage and loyalty. This photograph captures not only a moment frozen in time but also serves as a testament to the unwavering devotion dogs have towards their human companions. Taken in the 1930s and copied on September 24th, 1939 by Mirrorpix, this picture stands as an enduring reminder of how our four-legged friends can be our greatest protectors when we need them most.
