The Celebration of Achievement - Topping-Out Ceremony at the Iconic De Vere Hotel
EDITORS COMMENTS
. In this photo print, we witness a momentous occasion that marked the completion of the magnificent 2 million De Vere Hotel. The air is filled with excitement and camaraderie as distinguished individuals gather on the rooftop to partake in a time-honored tradition - the traditional toast. At the heart of this historic event stands Mr. Leslie Jackson, deputy chairman of De Vere Hotels and Restaurants Ltd, proudly donning his hard hat. With great precision, he levels out the final layer of concrete on the hotel roof, symbolizing not only his dedication but also that of an entire team who poured their hearts into bringing this architectural marvel to life. Joining him are two esteemed guests who graciously accepted Mr. Jackson's invitation to contribute to these finishing touches. Alderman Ralph Clews, Deputy Mayor of Coventry, radiates pride as he raises his glass alongside Dr. H. C. N Williams, Provst of Coventry Cathedral. This photograph transports us back to April 11th, 1972 - a significant date etched in history when craftsmanship met celebration against a backdrop adorned with Britannia flags fluttering in harmony with construction cranes reaching for new heights. As we gaze upon this snapshot frozen in time from Memory Lane Prints collection, let us raise our glasses too – not just to commemorate an extraordinary achievement but also to honor those whose vision and determination shaped Coventry's skyline forever
