Jeff Lynne, (aged 24) singer and songwriter with the Birmingham group, The Move, marries Miss Rosemary Adams (aged 19 and a trainee teacher), at Holy Trinity Church, Link Top, Malvern, Worcestershire. Both bride and groom are mad Birmingham City fans and in another frame in this set, Rosemary came out of the church waving a rattle with the word blues on it, showing her support for Birmingham City. Here we see Jeff Lynne lift his bride thus showing off her wedding dress and high heeled boots.
Some of the Birmingham City squad took time off from training to enjoy the wedding. Pictured left to right are Trevor Francis, Dave Latchford, George Smith, Jeff Lynne, Rosemary Adams, (Jeff lifting Rosemary
over the threshold) Bob Latchford and Roger Hand.
The happy couple postponed their honeymoon so that they can watch Birmingham City play Leeds United at Hillsborough on Saturday in the FA Cup semi final. Sadly Birmingham City lost that match 3-0 and Leeds went on to beat Arsenal in the final by one goal to nil.
Jeff Lynne formed the Electric Light Orchestra (known as ELO) in 1970, taking over sole leadership in 1972, after Roy Wood left. He enjoyed hit songs such as Mr Blue Sky, Wild West Hero, Turn to Stone and Don t Bring Me Down. In the 1980s, Jeff Lynne found further success as a producer and helped form the supergroup The Traveling Wilburys with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty. They enjoyed hits such as Handle With Care and End of the Line. He was also a member of The Move in the 1960s.
