To commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the Wolf Cub section of the Coventry Boy Scouts

To commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the Wolf Cub section of the Coventry Boy Scouts, a special two-acre field was officially opened at Rough Close by Mrs. E. E Williams, who founded the 20th Coventry Cub pack in 1917. Although Ma Williams is in her 87th year she said it was a great honour to have the field named after her and she was delighted that the cubs now have a field of their own.
This photo show the Lord Mayor, Alderman E.M. Rogers, taking the controls of a scout car duing his visit to Rough Close Camp.

EDITORS COMMENTS
To commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the Wolf Cub section of the Coventry Boy Scouts, a special two-acre field was officially opened at Rough Close by Mrs. E. E Williams, founder of the 20th Coventry Cub pack in 1917. Despite being in her 87th year, Ma Williams expressed great honor as she unveiled the field named after her, providing delight to the cubs who now have a dedicated space for their activities. In this photo captured on August 27th, 1966, we witness an extraordinary moment during Lord Mayor Alderman E. M. Rogers' visit to Rough Close Camp. The Lord Mayor can be seen taking control of a scout car with sheer enthusiasm and excitement radiating from his face. The image encapsulates the spirit of scouting in Coventry during that era - boys dressed smartly in their uniforms showcasing discipline and camaraderie while engaging in thrilling scoutcar racing adventures. It serves as a testament to the dedication and commitment shown by both leaders and scouts alike. This nostalgic snapshot transports us back to a time when youth organizations like scouting played an essential role in shaping young minds through outdoor experiences and valuable life lessons. It stands as a reminder of how community initiatives can leave lasting legacies for generations to come.
