EDITORS COMMENTS
1. Title: "North American T-28A Nomad N7708C: A Military Aviation Journey from Florida to Arizona and Back" 2.. This evocative photograph captures the North American T-28A Nomad N7708C (MSN 159-27) as it sits on the tarmac at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base (AFB) in Arizona. The T-28A, assigned to the 3300th Pilot Training Group at Graham AFB, Florida in December 1955, was later transferred to the Arizona Aircraft Storage Branch (AASB) in April 1958. After being registered under the civilian registration N7708C in 1960, the Nomad experienced a tragic incident in April 1968. While circling on final approach to Holbrook, Arizona, the aircraft suffered engine failure due to a sheared shaft in the fuel pump. The fuel pump's failure was attributed to an undetermined contamination in the fuel screen. In the turn towards the runway, the left wing of the T-28A struck the ground, resulting in the crash. The photograph, taken in the 1970s, documents the Nomad's final days at Davis-Monthan AFB. The T-28A Nomad was a versatile military trainer, having served the United States military from the late 1940s to the 1970s. This particular aircraft's journey from Florida to Arizona and back is a testament to its rich military aviation history.
