A pretty garden-house in Petty France, Westminster. Milton lived there until the Restoration. Later it became No. 19 York Street, belonged to Jeremy Bentham, was occupied successively by James Mill and William Hazlitt, and finally was demolished in 1877. Date: 1875

After Milton's departure, the property passed through the hands of several notable figures. Jeremy Bentham, the philosopher and social reformer, later owned the house. Subsequently, it was occupied by James Mill, a Scottish philosopher and economist, and William Hazlitt, a prominent essayist and literary critic. Despite its storied past, the garden house was eventually demolished in 1877.
