EDITORS COMMENTS
In this striking photograph, Herbert Alfred Vaughan (1832-1903) is depicted as a distinguished and revered figure in the Roman Catholic Church. Born in England, Vaughan rose through the ranks of the Church to become the Archbishop of Westminster in 1892. His dedication to the faith was evident long before this appointment, however, as he had founded St. Joseph's Foreign Missionary College, also known as the Mill Hill Missionaries, in 1866. Vaughan's commitment to spreading the word of Christianity and serving the global Catholic community was unwavering. His establishment of St. Joseph's College was a significant step in furthering this mission, as it trained and sent priests and brothers to serve in missionary work around the world.
