EDITORS COMMENTS
This print from 1916 showcases the remarkable Swindon Works Fire Brigade, a group of smartly uniformed firemen who were always prepared to tackle emergencies at the sprawling industrial site. The focal point of this image is the impressive Dennis Fire Engine, which was acquired by the Great Western Railway (GWR) in 1912. Its sleek design and powerful capabilities made it an invaluable asset for firefighting operations.
