Operation Heartbeat, the Evening Chronicle centenary appeal to help finance heart transplants and research at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle is better off to the tune of 580. Tyne Wear Waste Saver, Newburn, a community recycling project, and Davidsons Wastepaper Ltd. of Shotton Colliery, gave the money jointly to help patient care and the buying of new equipment.
