EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the historic Blue Anchor Public House, located in the heart of London's City district at EC3R 8DY. The image, taken from the left side, showcases the pub's intricate façade with its distinctive blue anchor emblem and ornate brickwork. The Blue Anchor, a cherished local institution, was once a popular watering hole for the workers and residents of this bustling area. The pub, which was not affiliated with the Hoare & Company Limited, had a rich history that spanned over a century. However, by July 2018, the Blue Anchor, like many historic buildings in the City, fell victim to the relentless march of progress. Demolition brought an end to this cherished piece of London's pub heritage. This photograph, preserved by The National Brewery Heritage Trust, offers a poignant reminder of the Blue Anchor's existence and the unique character it brought to the City. It is a testament to the importance of preserving our historical buildings and the stories they hold. The back of the print provides the location details, adding to its historical value. This photograph is not intended for commercial use and serves as a tribute to the Blue Anchor, a beloved pub that once stood proudly in the heart of London.
