John was one of the artists charged with the painting of the Paris Peace Conference of 1919. At the time, one of his most recent notable works was a vast cartoon, a panorama in grey of the " Canadians Opposite Lens: Winter 1917-18" which was on exhibition at the Canadian War Memorial Exhibition at Burlington House.
