EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a powerful symbol of unity and resilience - the Pan African flag used at the Million Man March 20th Anniversary in 2015. The creator remains unknown, but their creation has left an indelible mark on history. The Million Man March, organized by Louis Farrakhan, brought together African-American men from all walks of life in Washington, D. C. , on October 16,1995. It was a momentous event that showcased the strength and determination of the black community to fight for justice and equality. Fast forward twenty years later to October 10,2015, when another march titled "Justice or Else" took place in Washington, D. C. , once again spearheaded by Louis Farrakhan. This time participants rallied not only for police reform but also to raise awareness about discrimination against black people. In this photograph, we see a rectangular flag with three horizontal stripes - red representing the bloodshed endured by Africans throughout history; black symbolizing the collective identity and pride; and green signifying hope for a brighter future. The flag is mounted on a tan wooden pole with a gold plastic finial at its peak. A white fabric gracefully wraps around the pole while two white rectangular stickers boldly proclaim "MADE IN CHINA". These details serve as reminders that even symbols of empowerment can sometimes be manufactured elsewhere. This image encapsulates both historical significance and contemporary struggles faced by black communities worldwide. It serves as an enduring testament to solidarity among African-Americans striving for justice and equality throughout generations.
