Queen Victorias Diamond Jubilee Procession, Green Park Arch, London, 22 June 1897. York & Son silver gelatin DOP (developing out paper) print. A public holiday was declared to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Queen Victorias accession. Crowds lined a six mile processional route through London, with various vantage points occupied by paying and opportunistic watchers. Victoria wrote in her diary: " The cheering was quite deafening and every face seemed to be filled with joy."
