Canterbury Cathedral EAW004809
CANTERBURY CATHEDRAL, Kent. Canterbury is the seat of the premiere Archbishop of the Church of England, and the Cathedral has attracted pilgrims from an early date, most famously the characters in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. The city was bombed heavily during the war, unmasking evidence of the Roman town that underlies the Canterbury we see today. Aerial photograph taken in April 1947. Aerofilms Collection (see Links)

Worcester Bridge AL2383_062_01
Worcester Bridge, Worcester. View from the north-west looking across the River Severn towards Worcester Bridge and the Cathedral. Boats in the foreground and railcars next to the quay opposite are a reminder of the use of the river for transport and trade. From the George Fowler Jones album of photographic prints compiled in 1885
