This print titled "Une Petroleuse, Paris Commune, 1871" captures a significant moment in history during the Paris Commune of 1871. The image is part of a series called Types de la Commune and depicts one of the feared women extremists known as petroleuses. These daring individuals used petroleum to set fire to buildings, symbolizing their rebellion against the conservative government that emerged after the Franco-Prussian War.
