Hammersmith Bridge, Hammersmith, London, 1829. Designed by William Tierney Clark (1783-1852) Hammersmith Bridge was a chain suspension type, built in 1825-1827. It was the first suspension bridge to be built across the Thames. Clarks bridge was replaced in 1887 by another suspension bridge, designed by Joseph William Bazalgette (1819-1891)
