It isn t everyday that Teesside airport gets a visit from an RAF Hercules, but one touched down last night to take up these local soldiers and their pals for a training parachute drop. The giant aircraft collected 50 members of D Company, 4th Battalion The Parachute regiment, based at TA centre, Norton, for an 800ft drop on to Downholme moor, near Richmond, as part of a local exercise. 17th June 1987

An imposing RAF Hercules aircraft touched down on the runway, much to the surprise of locals and aviation enthusiasts alike. Its purpose? To transport 50 brave soldiers from D Company, 4th Battalion The Parachute Regiment, based at TA centre in Norton.
