Born in St. Johns Wood, London, Holiday's early life was marked by his proximity to the Royal Horse Artillery, which ignited his fascination with horses. He received his education at Westminster School and went on to study at the Royal Academy Schools. Before joining the military, Holiday worked as an illustrator for various publications, including The Graphic, The Tatler, and The Illustrated London News.
