Gladys Swarthout: A Multifaceted Talent in American Entertainment Gladys Swarthout (1900-1969) was an accomplished American opera singer and actress, renowned for her captivating voice and versatile performances. Born on March 28, 1900, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Swarthout began her musical training at a young age.
