EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a remarkable engraving of David Crockett, dating back to around 1830. The second state of this artwork, expertly crafted by Asher Brown Durand, measures approximately 9 1/8 x 8 3/8 inches (232 x 212 cm). David Crockett, an iconic figure in American history, was born in Jefferson, New Jersey in 1796 and passed away in Maplewood at the age of ninety. Known for his adventurous spirit and bravery, he left an indelible mark on the nation's folklore. The engraving itself is a testament to the artistic prowess of Anthony Lewis de Rose from York. Though his life was tragically cut short at the young age of thirty-three in 1836, de Rose's talent shines through this masterpiece. Displayed with utmost precision and attention to detail by Artokoloro Prints, this print allows us to appreciate both the historical significance and artistic excellence captured within its frame. It serves as a visual reminder of America's rich heritage and pays homage to those who have shaped its narrative.
