EDITORS COMMENTS
. This poignant print captures the image of John William Grout, an American soldier who served during the Civil War. Lieutenant Grout, born in 1843, bravely fought as a Second Lieutenant with the Union's 15th Massachusetts regiment. Tragically, at just eighteen years old, he met his untimely demise on October 21st, 1861, during the Battle of Ball's Bluff.
