"Captivating Rubies: Jewels Fit for Royalty and Beyond" Rubies, the epitome of regal allure, have long adorned the crowns and sceptres of monarchs throughout history. These precious gemstones have graced coronation regalia jewels, adding a touch of magnificence to royal ceremonies. One notable mention is Mrs Charles Sweeny, who possessed a collection that would make any queen envious. Each stone exuded elegance and sophistication, much like Ada Blanche when she portrayed Dick Whittington at Drury Lane. The significance extends beyond theatrical performances; they hold historical value as well. The sceptre, sword, and hand of justice belonging to Charlemagne were embellished with these fiery gems - symbols of power and authority in his empire. In 1930, an enchanting advert showcased Ciro jewellery adorned with ravishing rubies. It captured the essence of their timeless beauty and undeniable allure. Even centuries ago, rulers recognized the splendor held within each ruby. Emperor Charlemagne's sceptre and coins boasted these crimson treasures - testaments to their enduring appeal. Not limited to grandiose displays alone, rubies found themselves adorning objects from around the world. A mysterious box from Nepal in the 19th/20th century featured intricate ruby accents crafted by an unknown creator. Similarly captivating was a casting bottle from late 19th-century Europe – its ruby embellishments hinting at secrets contained within its delicate form. Russia too embraced the charm with a miniature evening purse dating back to c. 1890/1900 – an exquisite accessory fit for elegant soirées in St Petersburg or Moscow. Europe's love affair with these gemstones continued through time as seen in a pendant featuring Figure Justice from northern Europe between 1850-1900 – radiating fairness while being encased in breathtaking red hues.
