Michael Maier Greetings Card Collection

Michael Maier (1568-1622) was a German alchemist, physician, and polymath. He was born in Rendsburg, Germany and studied medicine at the University of Rostock. Maier wrote several books on alchemy and philosophy which were widely read throughout Europe. He also wrote extensively on the occult sciences such as astrology and magic. His most famous work is Atalanta Fugiens which contains 50 emblems with accompanying texts that explore the relationship between music, art, science and philosophy. Maier's works were influential in the development of Rosicrucianism during the 17th century. He is considered one of the most important figures in early modern European culture for his contributions to science, medicine, literature and art.
