Charles Darwin was a theology student of this Cambridge college from 1828-1831 and viewed it as a formative period for him in every way. His interests veered towards natural history, and through his friend and tutor John Stevens Henslow he was proposed as a gentlemans companion to Captain Fitzroy on the Beagle Voyage
